On June 29, 2023, the unveiling ceremony of the International Communication Innovation Centerof Artificial Intelligence jointly built by the Center for International Cultural Communication (CICC) and the College of Media and International Culture(CMIC) of Zhejiang University was successfully held at the Zijingang Campus of Zhejiang University.
The unveiling ceremony was presided over by Zhao Yu, Deputy Dean of the CIMC at Zhejiang University. Kan Wang, Director of Operation of CICC, Cui Kai, Director of Digital Culture Promotion Department of CICC, Liu Chongzhi, Project Director of CICC, Lin Detang, Director of Beijing Fellowship Center of China International Tea Culture Institute, Wei Lu, Dean and Deputy Party Secretary of CMIC at Zhejiang University, Wang Qingwen, Secretary of the Party Committee of CMIC at Zhejiang University, Zhao Yu, Deputy Dean of the CMIC at Zhejiang University, Wu Fei, distinguished professor and the Deputy Director of the Humanities Department of Zhejiang University, Zhao Yupei, researcher of the “Hundred Talents Program” of the CMIC at Zhejiang University, Deputy Director of the International Communication Research Center of Zhejiang University, and student representatives of master and docter attended the ceremony.
At the ceremony, Wei Lu, Dean and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the CMIC at Zhejiang University, made a speech to welcome the delegation from the CICC and introduced the situation of the college. He emphasized that the CICC is a professional institution and pillar to promote the international communication of Chinese culture, promote cultural exchanges and mutual learning between China and foreign countries, and organize and implement major cultural projects and cultural communication projects, which coincides with the discipline layout of the school in the development of digital global communication. In this cooperation, the two sides will jointly explore the practical path of digital technology and cultural communication, share and create a creative future of digital intelligence, and contribute to the construction of digital China. It is believed that the International Communication Innovation Center of Artificial Intelligence will surely become an international, high-level, efficient and high-quality cooperation platform, and make greater contributions to promoting the development of cultural digitalization.
Wang Kan, Director of Operations of CICC, mentioned in the speech that AIGC is changing the original content generation mode, causing people to rethink the existing concepts and theories in the field of cultural creativity, and also opening a new era of innovative transformation of cultural resources.In this context, CICC adhering to the mission of telling Chinese stories well, actively explores new fields, new models and new platforms for the cultural digitization and international communication of AI. The CMIC at Zhejiang University has made a series of important achievements in digital media, artificial intelligence and other fields, and is the backbone of the mission of international communication.The establishment of the International Communication Innovation Center of Artificial Intelligence is an important measure for both sides to actively respond to the cultural digitalization strategy and promote the deep integration of culture and technology. In the future, from the perspective of global AIGC development, the center will gather research resources in the industry, integrate and compile influential research results, lead the relevant domestic research process, and promote interdisciplinary academic exchanges and talent training; through summits, forums and other activities with the theme of AIGC, digital sports and digital people, we will achieve richer and deeper exchanges and dialogues in the industry, and contribute to promoting the international dissemination of Chinese culture.
Next, Wei Lu, Dean ofthe CMIC at Zhejiang University, andCuiKai, Director of the Digital Culture Promotion Department of CICC, signed the Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement between the Cultural Communication Center of the CICC and the CMIC at Zhejiang University. It witnessed the cooperation between the two sides in base construction, exchanging platform construction, academic research, media resource integration, talent training and other aspects.

In the release session of the Global Artificial Intelligence Sustainable Development Initiative (hereinafter referred to as the Initiative), Zhao Yupei , a researcher of the “Hundred Talents Program”of the CMIC at Zhejiang University and the Deputy Director of the International Communication Research Center of Zhejiang University, read out the content of the initiative.The Initiative focuses on the topic of sustainable communication of artificial intelligence, takes green communication and literacy improvement of artificial intelligence as the core principle, and aims at promoting cooperation and the consensus building of AI from all walks of life. It proposes that the industry should improve the transparency and interpretability of algorithms and databases, promote in-depth exchanges and integration among industry, education, research and application, explore feasible paths of green communication, educational paths of improving global citizenship literacy and innovative paths of artificial intelligence development, so as to contribute to global digital good governance based on the above construction achievements.
The two sides held further sharing and exchanges around the launching ceremony of the blue book of the International Communication Digitalization Reportof China. They agreed that the International Communication Innovation Centerof Artificial Intelligence is an exploration of the application of artificial intelligence in the field of digital culture, which will promote the dialogue between technology and art, and promote the acceleration of mutual learning and integration of world civilizations.
On July 1st, the building of international communication capacity was written into the national law for the first time, promoting a better understandingof China in the world and the exchanges and mutual learning among human civilizations.Therefore, the two sides shared and communicated on the cooperation of international communication brands such as Footprints of Learning, Global Youth Multi-dimensional Dialogue, Z Talk, and discussed the relationship between new network communication technologies and the integrated development of media, and how to promote cultural multi-channel output with digital technology to accelerate the construction of a new three-dimensional international communication pattern.
