HANGZHOU — Professor Hong Yu of the College of Media and International Culture (CMIC) of Zhejiang University has been appointed as ZJU Global Partnership Ambassador on December 24th in the 2019 Global Open Development Conference held at Zijingang campus. Professor Hong is the only one from the Faculty of Humanities to be selected as an ambassador.

ZJU Global Partnership Ambassadors are committed to facilitating global cooperation and maximizing the influence of individual cooperation. They aim to establish and deepen the connections between ZJU and other institutions abroad. Moreover, they play an important role in enhancing the reputation of ZJU by bringing about global cooperation and exchange. In addition, the ambassadors provide crucial and constructive advice for projects and exchange activities organized by the University.
Professor Hong earned her Ph.D. degree in communication studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She was an assistant professor and Ph.D. advisor from 2010 to 2017 at the University of Southern California Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. Professor Hong joined ZJU in the August of 2017 as a researcher of the Hundred Talents Program. She holds multiple positions at the University including Ph.D. advisor and the director of the Institute of Communication.

As theZJU Global Partnership Ambassador from the Faculty of Humanities, Professor Hong hopes to promote international exchange and communication regarding digital China and digital diplomacy through research projects. At the same time, she will work on reinforcing the University’s support for international scholars from the field of humanities and social sciences and on facilitating the “academic localization” of these scholars.
