Grand Convening of the First Chinese Urban Brand Hangzhou Summit Forum

On 2018 November 17th morning, first Chinese Urban Brand Hangzhou Summit Forum was held in Hangzhou Haihua resort.  This forum was organized by Zhejiang University, Hangzhou Development and Reform Commission, Hangzhou Development Research Center and hosted by the College of Media and International Culture of Zhejiang University, Hangzhou Urban Brand Promotion Association and Institute of Contemporary China and the World. The forum invited more than 200 professionals from government, academy, media and enterprise to participate. With the theme of “Chinese urban brand in new era: Jointly building, sharing and win-win”, the conference encouraged conversations and discussion on the strategy of building and spreading urban brands.

The opening ceremony was chaired by WEI Lu, dean of the College of Media and International Culture of Zhejiang University. YING Biao, member of  Standing Committee and Publicity Minister of Zhejiang University, HU Zhengyu, director of Hangzhou Development Research Center and ZHU Shijun, vice director of Hangzhou  Municipal Development and Reform Commission made opening remarks at the ceremony.

The China Urban Brand Research Alliance with 16 academic research institutes was later officially unveiled in the conference. WU Fei, Director of the Center for Public Diplomacy and Strategic Communication at Zhejiang University, FAN Hong, Director of the National Image Research Center at Tsinghua university, CHEN Xianhong, Director of China’s Story and Creative Communication Research Center at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, LIU Yanpin, Chief researcher of Urban Brand Marketing Think Tank of National Academy of Economic Strategy, LIU Xinxin, secretary general of the Urban Image Research Base of Communication University of China and HE Chunhui, Director of the Center of Economics and Culture at Zhejiang University inaugurated the research alliance together. The atmosphere was lifted up when the “Declaration of China Urban Brand Research Alliance” was read by the six experts together.

Following the inauguration ceremony is the release of index reports. Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Tianjin, Chengdu, Nanjing, Wuhan and Chongqing  are top 10 influential cities in general index report. Then come the dialogue sessions “communication between Hangzhou and Chengdu” and “humanity + digital urban story conversation”.

The closing ceremony of the summit forum is in the evening. WEI Lu gave the closing speech. In the same evening, the sixth meeting of first standing council of Public Relations Society of China of The Chinese Association for History of Journalism and Communication, held by our college in Hangzhou Haihua Manjuelong resort, was convened.

WANG Qingwen, vice dean of College of Media and International Culture of Zhejiang University gave the welcome speech. He pointed out that the College of Media and International Culture of Zhejiang University is one of the greatest centers for communication education. Public Relations Society of China (PRSC) is the most authoritative front of the domestic public relation research. The collaboration between the two organizations will support the growth and development of our college.
